Run for Education – A Juneteenth Fundraiser

June 17, 2023 @ 6:30 am - 11:00 am

Our Mission

The Running Edge is partnering with Mino Learning Lab to host our third annual Juneteenth Day of Service and our first #RunForEducation fundraiser. We are promoting healthy habits, battle food insecurity, create community through the arts while empowering Miami’s Historically Black Neighborhoods. We are happy to be working alongside them.

We are raising money in an effort to provide high quality educational resources and professional development to educators and youth serving organizations in Miami’s priority areas.

The Route

This year’s Run for Education event will take our participants through some of Miam historic neighborhoods such as Liberty City and Allappattah and Little Haiti. It’s our way of sharing the experience and richness of Miami’s black community. Participants will have 2 route options.

Option 1 – Historic 5K (WALKERS + BEGINNERS)

The Historic Loop is the shorter option (approximatley 3 miles) for our walkers, children and begining runners. This route will begin in Allapattah at The Freedoom Lab located at 4300 NW 12th Avenue, will go through Liberty City to the corner of 50th Street and NW 10th Avenue and return back to the start.

Option 2 – Heritage 10K (ADVANCED)

The Heritage Loop is a longer option (approximately 7 miles) for advanced runners. This route will begin in Allapattah at The Freedom Lab located at 4300 NW 12th Avenue, will go through Liberty City, Buena Vista to the Little Haiti Cultural Center, located at 212 NE 59th Terrace and return back to the start.

Our Goals

Our goal is to raise $10,000 and to have over 200 participants.

We are raising money in an effort to provide high quality educational resources and professional development to educators and youth serving organizations in Miami’s priority areas.

We also want to have an impact by raising awareness and being highly visible and accessible to our community
